About NYX+LORE
NYX+LORE is a small batch ceramic studio owned and operated by Ashley Maxwell. It was created out of my love for ceramics and my desire to get back to my pottery roots. The imagery drawn and sculpted on my pots are directly inspired by my sculpture. I am inspired by experiences, personal journeys, memories and perception, mythology, lore, fairytales and all things romantic, ethereal, and enchanting. I strive to create work that allows escapism through romanticism. My pots are meant to be whimsical and touched and designed to fit the dream-like quality of the surface motifs.
About Ashley
Ashley Maxwell is a ceramic artist based in West Hartford, Connecticut. She earned her MFA from Georgia State University in Atlanta and received her BFA from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. Ashley’s sculpture work has been included in exhibitions at the Clay Studio in Philadelphia, the The Glassell School of Art in Houston, Aqua Art Fair in Miami, Human Form Symposium at Arrowmont School of Arts and Craft in Gatlinburg, the artMRKT Hamptons and Art on the Edge 2014 in East Hampton. In 2013, Ashley was awarded the First Place Graduate Student Award in the NCECA National Juried Exhibition. In the summer of 2019, she was an artist in residence at the Buffalo Creek Art Center in Gardnerville, Nevada. Ashley now owns and operates a small batch ceramic studio, NYX+LORE Ceramics LLC while also continuing her sculpture work and exhibitions.
